Alien Residence Permits are issued to those who wish to stay in China for

Alien Temporary Residence Permits are issued to those who wish to stay
in China for less than one year The fee for an Alien Temporary
Residence Permit is CNY 100
The permits are valid for between 1 to 5 years and there is no limit on the
amount of times they can be renewed

Persons who have entered China on a inZla or irXla visa must apply for a
Foreigner Residence Certificate at the Public Security Bureau within 30 days
of arrival The authorities may issue a provisional certificate in some cases
Temporary residence cards are issued to those who will be staying in China
for less than one year A residence certificate is not required for employees
holding other types of visas, including the ihFlu and the inLlu visas You
must carry your residence certificates or passports at all times for possible
examination by authorities

Opening a Bank Account

You will require some form of identification (usually a passport is
sufficient); the procedure takes between 5- 10 working days Only banks
authorized to conduct foreign currency exchange are able to service
expatriates accounts
